The entryway is the first impression of your home, but it’s often the drop zone for coats, shoes, and clutter! Here’s a few simple tips on how to make the space feel more inviting and intentional!

Before & After: Virtual Rendering

This entryway is off of their living room, so the first thing I would do to help make the space feel like more of a designated area is change the wall color. Having all the walls painted the same color makes the room feel shallow and small, so I would add wallpaper to the back wall to draw the eye deeper into the room and make it feel larger.

Changing out the bench to a wood tone and adding a round mirror helps soften up the area, since the nook and doors are all rectangular. To keep functionality in the space, I would add a bench that has storage and add baskets underneath to hide away any toys or shoes that make the space feel cluttered.

The finishing touches are really what bring this room together. First I would add a larger rug that is centered in the space so there’s plenty of room to take your shoes off and the visual balance of a larger rug helps make the area seem larger. Then I would hang hooks above the bench for added functionality but choosing a wood tone to add warmth to the space. I always recommend adding plants and artwork to your space to help it feel more natural and personalized. And finally I would swap out the light fixture for something larger to add some visual interest. By making a few small changes, the space is completely transformed! It looks and feels more inviting while still being functional.
