Let’s take this plain office and turn it into a productive workspace and sitting room.

Before & After: Virtual Rendering

This room has so much potential — the built-ins and wainscoting are amazing, but right now they kind of disappear into the background. So, I’m giving them a glow-up with a moody green (SW Taiga) that goes on the ceiling, built-ins, and wainscoting. Paired with the Meadowvine wallpaper from the CSA collection, it instantly feels warmer and more inviting.

I swapped the black light fixture for something in brass/gold and replaced the dark curtains with lighter, more neutral ones hung higher to make the room feel taller. Then I added two comfy armchairs and a wood coffee table to make it more than just an office — now it’s the kind of space where you’d actually want to hang out or read a book. The existing rug pops so nicely against the green walls now, too.

Next up: styling the built-ins. This part can feel tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. I started with wicker baskets on the bottom for some texture (and practical storage), then mixed in warm tones, different shapes, and a few textured pieces up top. And don’t stress about filling every shelf — leaving some open space keeps it looking balanced and intentional. I will link my shelf styling tutorial below for you if you’re interested in learning more!
