By switching out key pieces of furniture, we can give this sitting room a cozy and inviting vibe.

Before & After: Virtual Rendering

When I first saw the room, it felt very cluttered. There were too many different furniture styles that didn’t work together, making the space feel smaller. By replacing the furniture and hanging the curtains higher and wider around the window, the room now feels much more open and spacious.

I swapped out the heavier pieces—like the dark couch, hutch, and oversized side tables—for lighter, more appropriately scaled furniture. Since the room isn’t large, choosing smaller, lighter pieces helps make it feel bigger. An area rug grounds the space while adding texture and color. I pulled a gray-blue tone from the rug and used it on the walls, creating a cozy, moody atmosphere.

To add interest to the back wall, I installed picture molding, giving the artwork a stylish way to stand out. I also noticed crown molding on the column, so I extended it throughout the space to elevate the overall look. With a few personal touches and some greenery, the room now feels much more open and welcoming—perfect for a chat or curling up with a good book.
