When we look at this room we see an obvious visual divide between the top and bottom of the room. The style of the room is very beautiful, they’ve done a great job of balancing the color palette and choosing nice furniture. Some things that I would change to help bring the eye upwards is by adding window treatments, taller mantel decor, a larger and warmer console table, and a higher contrast light fixture. By adding tall and wide curtains, we’re meeting the line where the room feels visually divided and creating a “new” ceiling. The tall mirror and vertical pictures by the fireplace help direct our eye up to that line, and then adding a visually heavier light fixture we draw attention away from the tall vacant walls and towards the cozy living space. Then to make the room feel even cozier, I think a Frame TV would feel less blocky and add visual interest to the space, then I would also swap out the console table for a wood one to bring the warmth from the sofas over to the other side of the room. This room was already styled beautifully, but by making these few small changes, now the eye focuses more on the coziness and less on the vastness of the room!
