Here is a quick and easy tutorial for building your own DIY shaker style cabinet doors or drawer fronts!

Shaker doors are made up of 3 parts - rails (side pieces), stiles (top/bottom piece) and a middle panel. For mine, I used 1x3s for my rails and stiles and 1/4in sanded plywood for the middle panel. You could use a router or a dado blade to make a groove in the 1x3s but I’m going to just use what I have and make it work with the table saw. I need the groove to be 1/4in thick so I am running it through my table saw blade (which is only 1/8 thick) until I get the desired thickness. After you do this, I cut all of my panels (slightly larger than the opening so they can sit in the grooves) and I assemble 3 sides of the frame with pocket hole joinery. Insert your panel and then install the 4th side. Voilà! A beautiful shaker door that’s just as beautiful on the back as it is on the front! Ready for stain or paint!

Did I just say firetop table? Totally meant TABLETOP FIRE BOWL 😂 sheesh.

This is a super easy, beginner friendly, DIY to help cozy up your patio this spring. All you need is a bowl, fire canister, sand (I realized potting mix is flammable so don’t use this when you do yours) and rubbing alcohol. I wasn’t sure about the rocks at first but I kinda like the all natural look. You could easily use fire glass, marbles, river rocks… make it your own!

Easy peasy + oh so cozy! What do you think!?

DIY can be really intimidating but I promise if you just take it one step at a time you’ll be so surprised what you can do! Still lots to do in here but here’s a little progress update!
