This week, I’m working on creating a beautiful n This week, I’m working on creating a beautiful nursery for my best friends new baby boy. I added picture molding to the crib wall using miter shears but I wasn’t loving the way the corners were turning out in some places. (Like to the point the dang corners we’re keeping me up last night thinking about it 😆) I decided this morning… SCREW IT. I’m redoing it. I removed all of the trim from the wall and completely started over from scratch. I know… I’m insane 😂 It took me a fraction of the time on the second attempt and now looks SO GOOD. I share this because I want you to know DIYs never go perfectly, even for me, and it’s ok to make mistakes and learn. PERSEVERE EVERY TIME. DIY German Schmear Fireplace Makeover for under $7 DIY German Schmear Fireplace Makeover for under $70! . Materials: - thinset mortar - grout sponge - putty knife - grout piping bag . 1. Mix your mortar according to the instructions. The goal is peanut butter-like consistency. (If you flip your putty knife over it should stay there) 2. Pipe the grout lines with the mortar 3. Take your wet sponge and wipe the brick. Add / wipe mortar as needed to get desired coverage 4. Let it dry and that’s it. It’ll lighten as it dries so don’t be alarmed by the color at first. . Can you even believe this is the same door??? 😭 Incase you missed it… last week the new door I ordered finally came in after 8 weeks of waiting and it was the wrong color 😒 Impatient me didn’t wanna wait for a new one so I decided to try and makeover the one I had on a budget! HELLOOO BEAUTIFUL 😍 How to paint faux wood: 1. Clean + prep the door 2. Use an exterior paint to paint 2 coats of your base color. (I used Rookwood Brown by SW) 3. Lightly apply a gel stain with a brush (I used the color Coffee) and wipe with a staining pad to blend 4. Viola! A brand new door! To really make your transformation complete, paint the frame to match + remove the storm door if you have one. Our door is fiberglass but you could use this technique on all materials. The stain brush helps you get the wood grain texture. I AM OBSESSED 👏🏼 Are you ready to tackle yours now!? I usually swap my rugs out a few times a year and it always makes a space feel fresh and new. I just got a new kitchen runner from @ruggable and my favorite thing about it is that it is MACHINE WASHABLE! 🤯 Rugs don’t stand a chance in our house with our 3 dogs and toddler running around 😂 I recently discovered that Ruggable now makes cushioned pads for their rugs for added support!
